Research on Resilient Cities at Home and Abroad

Abstract The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee set the tone of the “14th five year plan” and mentioned the need to “build a sponge city and a resilient city” to provide direction for the path of urban governance in the new era. Resilient cities emphasize the self adjustment and self repair ability of urban governance system. The key goal of building a resilient city is to achieve mutual benefit, mutual prosperity and symbiosis between the urban governance system and the uncertain external environment. By reviewing the literature on the theme of resilient cities at home and abroad, starting with the theory of resilience, this paper combs the evolution of the concept of resilient cities, and systematically summarizes the establishment of the evaluation and indicators of resilient cities, in order to provide innovative references for the development of resilient cities.
