Helping Everything Become Itself: An Analysis of the Ecological Thought in Laozi

  • Exploring the ecological ideas of Laozi is of great significance for understanding the relationship between humans and nature and solving the problem of ecological crisis. The cosmology of Laozi serves the theory of practice and provides a model for practice. The model of Laozi believes that the Tao is based on emptiness and is capable of giving birth to all things. The process of Tao giving birth to and nurturing all things is a natural process without will and purpose. The responsibility of humanity lies in understanding and following the Tao, without desires and wills, and helping all things achieve themselves. In the face of ecological crisis, the inspiration of Laozi is that humans should follow their own nature, conform to the Tao, follow the nature of things, and achieve all things.
