Abstract
People often use "natural" to support or oppose gene editing. "Nature" is a vague reference. The word "natural" has multiple meanings and multiple referents. The "natural" argument can be roughly divided into two frames, the "grateful frame" and the "creative frame". The "framework of gratitude" takes the metaphysical "being" as the foundation, and the "framework of creation" is derived from philosophical naturalism. We cannot discuss gene editing technology out of the two frameworks of "natural" argument, but the "natural" argument is not sufficient as a basis for clear thinking.
