Corpus-based Research on Electric Power French Vocabulary Teaching

  • Vocabulary is the "cornerstone" of professional French. Corpus provides a large number of authentic and novel language materials for vocabulary teaching. Corpus research can describe and reveal the typical characteristics and laws of language use. In the absence of a corresponding corpus, this study first collected stylistic materials from 12 electric power disciplines and built a French electric power corpus of 500000 words. Then, by setting objective criteria (word frequency threshold and distribution range) and subjective criteria (manual elimination), 1279 words were made to form a vocabulary for electric power French teaching. Finally, a mind map was used to demonstrate the corpus teaching activities.
