Abstract
As a famous general of the Huai Army and the first governor of Taiwan, Liu Mingchuan, although from a humble background, still devoted himself to learning, especially in the difficult environment of poetry. He is skilled in presenting his feelings and insights in the form of poetry, creating many meaningful, simple and fresh poetry and prose, which also reflect the survival prospects, struggle process, and ideological style of the lower class figures in the late Qing Dynasty. In Liu Mingchuan's poetry, there is a self expressed ambition of his personal nature, a yearning for a secluded life, and a cognitive attention to the current situation. The psychological process of his poetry creation vividly highlights the legendary figure image of learning in the harsh living environment, reflecting the spiritual atmosphere of elite figures who have grown up in the changing situation of the new and old.
