Study on the Negative Social Mentality of Three Gorges External Resettlement: Taking the FengHuang New Village of Southern Anhui for Example

  • The social mentality of external resettlement affects their social adaptability in resettlement sites. Based on the survey of Fenghuang New Village in southern Anhui, the external resettlement from the Three Gorges area still have a certain negative social mentality in the resettlement area, which is manifested in the marginal mentality of “foreigners”, the mentality of losing roots of “homeless people” and compensation for “special citizens” mentality. The negative social mentality of external resettlement is affected by many factors such as limited social adjustment ability, exclusion of local residents, inadequate emotional governance of local governments, and imperfect follow-up support policies for resettlement. In the follow-up, it is necessary to shape the positive social mentality of resettlement from the aspects of enhancing the adaptability, expanding external resettlement and local residents' society, improving the working methods of local government, and increasing the strength of later support policies.
