The Thought of Everyday Life in Das Kapital and Its Contemporary Value

  • Marx’s Das Kapital contains rich ideas of everyday life. This article believes that everyday life constitutes another theoretical clue in Das Kapital in addition to “production” and “capital”. This article discusses the thoughts of everyday life in Das Kapital from four aspects: Marx’s critique of the daily life of his time, Marx’s distinction between the structure of everyday life, Marx’s discussion of the historicity of everyday life and Marx’s vision for a better life. This paper argues that the critical dimension, the structural dimension, the historical dimension and the value dimension constitute the basic theoretical framework of Marx’s thought on daily life, and different dimensions constitute an organic unified theory. As far as the reality is concerned, in today’s increasingly digitized human society, daily life presents new features and new changes. In the face of these changes, Marx’s classic theories still have very important significance and value in the theoretical interpretation of daily life, the criticism of reality, and the inspiration of ideals.
