On the Ideological Connotation of Bai Juyi’s Yongwu Poems

  • Bai Juyi was one of the poets who wrote the most Yongwu Poems in the Tang Dynasty. Bai Juyi's Yonwu Poems have no great difference in the selection of theme types from the previous generation. However, there are great innovations in the ideological connotation. Bai Juyi not only integrated Yongwu Poems into his personal secular life, but also taught poetry by observing the style and politics through Yongwu Poems, and euphemistically expressed his personality and political position in Yongwu Poems. These poems are rich in connotation, highlighting the social significance of criticizing the shortcomings of the times and interfering in real politics. Therefore, they have an important influence in the Tang Dynasty and even the whole history of Chinese Yongwu Poems.
