Social Work Intervention in the Accurate Identification of Relative Poverty: Advantages, Difficulties and Optimization

  • Against the underground of the "post anti-poverty era", the involvement of social workers in accurate identification has become a trend in light of more complicated accurate identification of relatively poor targets. Based on some cases of social work intervention in accurate identification purchased by the government of X District, H city, the study found that: as a third-party professional evaluator, social workers' intervention in relative poverty identification has the advantages of objectivity, professionalism and sustainability. However, it was found in the specific accurate identification service process that the intervention of social workers did not achieve the expected effect of government purchases. There are various predicaments during the process of accurate identification, including unclear identification indicators, the lack of legitimacy of third-party, the distrust of the target audience and the insufficient number and quality of social workers. The main causes lie in the inadequate theoretical research and policy practice, the unsuccessful relationship between government and society, and difficulties in self-development of social work organizations. Eventually, optimization suggestions are put forward in order to improve social work intervention in accurate identification of relative poverty.
