Present Situation, Problems and Countermeasures of Nuclear Power Development in China

  • According to the policy of NDRC, NEA and CCAE,nuclear power will become one of the main energy sources in China. In fact, nuclear power is not absolutely safe. On the one hand, the pollution cycle of nuclear waste, which will last for 200,000 years, can not be solved in any country at present; on the other hand, our nuclear safety legislation and institutional safeguards are still not in place. Internationally, the abandonment and elimination of nuclear power is a trend. This paper holds that China should control the scope and scale of using nuclear power, and the fundamental way to solve the energy shortage is to vigorously develop new energy sources while actively exploring new energy sources available in the future.
