Abstract: To lead the youth to build a scientific and technological superpower, we need to carry forward the spirit of Chinese scientists. The spiritual strength of scientists includes two systems of internal drive and external tension. Internal drive which involves four elements: truth force, emotional force, ethical force and willpower, and external tension, which contains four elements: charisma, calmness, creativity and the ability to create material wealth. Internal drive and external tension are related to each other and affect each other. In order to successfully transform spiritual inner drive of scientists into external tension, the premise is the correct understanding of the essence of the scientists' spirit; the basis is following the laws of scientists' spiritual education; and it can be guaranteed by establishing and perfecting the system of respecting science and scientists. Playing the role of the media to correctly publicize the scientist's spirit is the support, and creating a social environment where the scientist's spirit is clean and honest is the key. We should carry out scientific disenchantment and scientific enlightenment among colleges and universities students, root the spirit of scientists, promote the inner drive of scientists to transform into external tension, discover scientific research talents, train scientific research reserve army, and truly do a good job in scientific research. Only by doing these can our scientific and technological power have qualified successors.
