Abstract: Locke's 'Some Thoughts Concerning Education' centers on the theme of 'gentlemanly education' and constructs an educational system aimed at the bourgeois class from three aspects: physical education, moral education, and the education of knowledge and skills. Its purpose is to cultivate modern elites who are physically and mentally sound, morally and intellectually competent, and in tune with the trends of the times. The core connotations of 'gentlemanly education' concerning physical, moral, and intellectual education encompass a rational foundation of holistic education, rational moral cultivation, and practical habit formation. It is necessary to dialectically analyze its inherent limitations from a class-elite perspective, uphold the coordinated cultivation of 'five types of education,' follow the moral education principle of 'knowledge, emotion, will, and action,' and implement the practice of 'unity of knowledge and action' to establish a dialogical framework between classical Western educational theory and the practice of education in China. In the new era, it remains essential to continue grounding educational practice in Marxist theories of the all-round development of the individual, promoting the local and modern transformation of 'gentlemanly education' thought, thereby providing academic reference and practical solutions for the deepening of quality education and the cultivation of new-era talents.
