Abstract: The level of time and space processing is an important indicator to show the narrative art of novels. The time and space processing of China's ancient novels has experienced a development process from unintentional to intentional, from rough to exquisite, but at present, there is little research on this topic in academic circles.The art of dealing with time and space in Ming and Qing novels has reached its peak, especially in The novels of gifted scholars and beautiful women in Ming and Qing dynasties. A variety of narrative strategies related to time and space in the novels of gifted scholars and beautiful women in Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as festival narrative, night narrative, war scene, time difference narrative, gap narrative, coincidence narrative, meteorological narrative, the origin of the character, travel narrative. At the same time, as far as the interaction between discourse level and story level is concerned, the size of story space limits the length of discourse. These strategies show the superb wisdom of the ancients in handling time and space flexibly and plays an important role in shaping ideal characters, generating plots, creating narrative turning points, depicting war scenes and revealing folk customs.
