Abstract: Mo Yan's works have gained widespread influence internationally, with their translations playing a significant role in this process. However, studies on their translation are relatively lacking. This paper, based on Postcolonial Translation Theory, critically analyzes the English translation of Frog, focusing on the translation strategies and effects of socio-cultural loaded words. The research reveals that postcolonial translation practices not only help target readers understand Chinese culture, break down cultural barriers, and promote cultural exchange, but also effectively convey the deeper connotations of socio-cultural loaded words. Moreover, this translation strategy fosters intercultural dialogue and integration, facilitating the global dissemination of Chinese literature. The study shows that Postcolonial Translation Theory plays a crucial role in the translation of Frog. In translating socio-cultural loaded words, the translator preserves the cultural uniqueness of the source text while aligning with the cognitive habits of target readers, highlighting the translator's cultural awareness and underscoring the importance of Postcolonial Translation Theory in cross-cultural communication.
