The third possibility: on the limit of "Western Law in the History of Chinese Novels"

Abstract: "Western Law" was the academic trend of the early years of the Republic of China, but compared with the practice of people willingly accepting the Western view of novels and vigorously promoting vernacular, Lu Xun's attitude was more ambiguous, which is not only reflected in his research method of governing novels with simplicity, but also in his writing style and Chinese On the catalog of the "Novel History". These practices created the impression that "Lu Xun is good at learning from the old" in the eyes of the people of the time, and influenced the perception of the History at that time. In the choice of the concept of Chinese and Western novels, in addition to trying his best to combine the two, Lu Xun also made an attempt to explore the third view of novels from the local area, but it was limited to the lack of literature and had not yet formed a systematic discussion. Ignoring this point, it is easy to form an incomprehensive judgment of the History, and will also miss an important revelation of today's "rewriting the history of novels".
