Impact of Climate Change on Land Degradation in Low-Lying Island States

Abstract: In November 2022, the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt hosted the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP27), with a view to continuing on previous successes and effectively tackling the global challenge of climate change. Providing support for developing countries is critical as the world pivots from negotiation to implementation, turning the words of the Paris Agreement into real action. With the problems of sea level rise and land degradation caused by the intensification of global climate change, the survival and development of low-lying island states are facing a crisis. From the perspective of land degradation, this paper focuses on analyzing the impact of climate change on low-lying island states and possilble ways to address relevant impacts and challenges in the future.
